Meet Carmie Dixon, Relay’s newest advisor!
We’re beyond excited to welcome the newest member of our team at Relay Event Rentals: Carmie Dixon.
Carmie’s well-rounded, highly experienced and has an awesome sense of humour, and we think you’re really going to enjoy getting to know her!
Who is Carmie?
Carmie’s been in the restaurant and catering business a long time. In the Comox Valley, Cumberlanders remember her as the gregarious namesake of Carmie’s Café. Many others have enjoyed her wholesome, hearty cooking at events around town through Carmie’s catering business.
Though Carmie might be new to event rentals, she’s really been in the business for more than 30 years. She’s seen what can, what should and what definitely should not happen at events, and we’re all fortunate to have that experience at our disposal.
“I’d always heard great reviews of Relay from my catering clients,” says Carmie. “One day I was in there checking on an order for a catering job and I sort of casually asked if they needed any help. I guess they thought I’d be a good fit, because within 10 minutes they called to offer me a job!”
With a lifetime of international living thanks to her husband Garry’s military background, Carmie’s had the opportunity to meet many interesting people, prepare a variety of cuisine styles and maintain a state of calm during potentially stressful situations around the globe.
“There’s a lot that goes into planning an event, and you want to make sure everything goes according to plan,” she says. “I’ve seen what goes into hosting a great event, and so I see my role with Relay as helping people cover those bases and prepare for great events of their own.”
A wife, mother and grandmother, Carmie’s also active in the local business community, currently serving as president of the Comox Valley Business Network. She’s also a member of the Comox Valley Small Business Association, the B.C. Chef’s Association and Harmony Rebekah Lodge in Cumberland.
To congratulate Carmie on her move, visit Relay Event Rentals at 2-1255 McPhee Avenue in Courtenay!
